2016: The Squolf Club
Do you love squad? Do you tolerate golf? Well then oh boy do I have the club for you. It all began 2016 when we realized it would be awesome to have our own club at school. Wesley and I pitched it to Irvington ASB and after an hour of deliberation (true story) they decided to approve our club. We began selling stickers, having executive meetings, and going to La Vic's. Little to no golf took place aside from one very awesome range session and a photo shoot at the course.
2023: A League is Born
We took a long break from golf but shortly after COVID we all began playing once again. Because we are old and washed up former athletes we decided to turn our hobby into a league. We sucked (and still do). Our original format was simple: one course a week and 2 majors. It was chaotic and too much golf but it planted the seeds for the future.
2023 Squaids League Champion
To absolutely no surprise to himself, Jacob Benjamin Parsons emerged victorious from the inaugural season. He placed first in both the drunk scramble as well as the Tilden Park end-of-season Solo Major with a winning score of 101.
2025: The League Evolves
The burnout was real from the 2023 Squaids League, so everyone just wanted to golf for fun in 2024. We all had a good time and got a little bit better at golf (not really), but the washed up athletes inside us were craving that competitive edge. Cut to January 25th, 2025, a day that changed the trajectory of golf as we know it. Like a phoenix from the ashes, the Squolf League was reborn with a simple idea: a little less golf than last time and a lot more organization. Now more than doubled in size and thriving, the Squolf League has finally fulfilled the promise made to ASB back in 2016: bring people together over bogeys (and brews).
